Dr. Westermann was graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in 1984.  Postgraduate training was obtained at the Institute of Living in Hartford, Connecticut in both Adult and Child Psychiatry.  She was a psychiatric consultant at Whiting Forensic Institute in Middletown, Connecticut and practiced in New Hampshire and Massachusetts for over two decades before returning to Connecticut.  

Prior to entering the medical profession, Dr. Westermann earned the Master of Arts and Master of Education degrees at Teachers College of Columbia University.  Her graduate work in education was in the psychology of schooling and remedial reading, and learning disabilities.  Dr. Westermann's nine years of experience in teaching primarily special education students have been unique and valuable to her practice of psychiatry.

Dr. Westermann is Board Certified in Adult Psychiatry and Fellowship Trained in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.  She is also a diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners.  She is a past member of the Massachusetts Medical Society and was a delegate from the Hampden County Medical Society in the House of Delegates.  Dr. Westermann is also a member of the following organizations:

Dr. Westermann maintains active medical licenses in the state of Connecticut and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
